After 10 years travelling the world as a fashion model, Ruth started a new career in wine and restaurants. After studying with the WSET and working across the industry, she turned freelance in 2013 to set up the speed tasting night Flight Club, street food wine bar Street Vin (now sold) and create the alternative consumer tasting WINE CAR BOOT, to promote independent wine and wine shops.

Ruth has written wine lists for several restaurants in London, including Mare Street Market, Craft London and The Cellar at Wilderness festival. She hosts tastings and advises on wine for a wide range of business and private clients include Grenson Shoes, Cocoa Runners and the OAD Festival. As a writer, she has been published in Noble Rot, ES, Elle Wedding, INstyle, Red, Peninsula Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Town & Country, Square Meal, Esquire, GQ and The Guardian.

She won Imbibe’s Innovator of the Year 2014, GQ Sommelier of the Year 2016, YBF Alcohol 2017 and is nominated for the third time this year for the IWSC Julian Brind Award for Outstanding Achievement in Wine.

Ruth joined Ruth for the first WINE CAR BOOT at the 11th hour and has proved indispensable since. Her day job is as a Fixer for anything food and drink related after having spent 8 years travelling the world, studying and working on some seriously glamorous yachts.

In the last five years Ruth has been a key part of opening and operating The Clove Club, Spiritland, Blixen, Polpo’s Ape & Bird and community project Chicken Town. She has run high profile events with clients including Bistrotheque, Louis Vuitton, Blixen at Latitude, Noble Rot at Wilderness, Vinteloper’s Urban Winery Project (Melbourne), Festival No. 6, Berry Brother’s & Rudd and the charity initiative Cook for Syria. As one of the most in demand project managers, Ruth was just looking after operations for Dan Barber’s (NY’s Bluehill at Stone Barns) WastED pop up at Selfridges and the Opinionated about Dining week in London.

Now based between Stockholm and London, Ruth has spent six months working with the F&B team at Fotografiska on their communications and service operations and is now opening Retired Hen – a consultancy on sustainability within the food and beverage industry along side her “fixing” and project management gigs across Europe.

“Bringing together London’s leading independent wine merchants under one roof is no mean feat… The vision to make interesting quality wines accessible to everyone is shared by all of us.”
